1 And Saul approved of their killing him. That day a severe persecution began against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout the countryside of Judea and Samaria. 1 And Saul was there, giving approval to his death. On that day a great persecution broke out against the church at Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria.
2 Devout men buried Stephen and made loud lamentation over him. 2 Godly men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him.
3 But Saul was ravaging the church by entering house after house; dragging off both men and women, he committed them to prison. 3 But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off men and women and put them in prison.
4 Now those who were scattered went from place to place, proclaiming the word. 4 Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went.

6 The crowds with one accord listened eagerly to what was said by Philip, hearing and seeing the signs that he did, 6 When the crowds heard Philip and saw the miraculous signs he did, they all paid close attention to what he said.
