Third Millennium Bible w/ Apocrypha (TMBA) New International Version (NIV)
Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. 5 Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Christ there.
And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spoke, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. 6 When the crowds heard Philip and saw the miraculous signs he did, they all paid close attention to what he said.
For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed with them; and many taken with palsies and who were lame, were healed. 7 With shrieks, evil spirits came out of many, and many paralytics and cripples were healed.
And there was great joy in that city. 8 So there was great joy in that city.
But there was a certain man called Simon, who earlier in the same city had used sorcery and bewitched the people of Samaria, claiming that he was someone great, 9 Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great,
to whom they all gave heed from the least to the greatest, saying, "This man is great with the power of God." 10 and all the people, both high and low, gave him their attention and exclaimed, "This man is the divine power known as the Great Power."
And for him they had regard, because for a long time he had bewitched them with sorceries. 11 They followed him because he had amazed them for a long time with his magic.
But when they believed Philip's preaching of the things concerning the Kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 12 But when they believed Philip as he preached the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
Then Simon himself believed also; and when he was baptized he continued with Philip and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. 13 Simon himself believed and was baptized. And he followed Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw.
Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the Word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John, 14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.
who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Ghost. 15 When they arrived, they prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit,
(For as yet, He had fallen upon none of them, for they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus). 16 because the Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them; they had simply been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.
Then they laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. 17 Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, 18 When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money
saying, "Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost." 19 and said, "Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit."
But Peter said unto him, "Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money! 20 Peter answered: "May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money!
Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter, for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. 21 You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God.
Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God that perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. 22 Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive you for having such a thought in your heart.
For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness and in the bond of iniquity." 23 For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin."
Then Simon answered and said, "Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me." 24 Then Simon answered, "Pray to the Lord for me so that nothing you have said may happen to me."
And they, when they had testified and preached the Word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem and preached the Gospel in many villages of the Samaritans. 25 When they had testified and proclaimed the word of the Lord, Peter and John returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many Samaritan villages.
