Lexham English Bible (LEB) New International Version (NIV)
Therefore, if you have been raised together with Christ, seek the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Set your mind on the things above, not [on] the things on earth. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ, [who is] your life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory. 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
Therefore put to death {what is earthly in you}: sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustful passion, evil desire, and greediness, which is idolatry, 5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.
because of which the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.
in which also you once lived, when you used to live in them. 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.
But now you also lay aside all [these] things: anger, rage, wickedness, slander, abusive language from your mouth. 8 But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
Do not lie to one another, [because you] have taken off the old man together with his deeds, 9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices
and have put on the new [man] that is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of the one who created him, 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave, [or] free, but Christ [is] all, and in all. 11 Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.
Therefore, as [the] chosen of God, holy and [dearly] loved, put on affection, compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, 12 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
putting up with one another and forgiving one another. If anyone should have a complaint against anyone, just as also the Lord forgave you, thus also you [do the same]. 13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
And to all these [things] [add] love, which is [the] bond of perfection. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
And the peace of Christ must rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body, and be thankful. 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another with all wisdom, with psalms, hymns, [and] spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God, 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.
and everything {whatever} you do in word or in deed, giving thanks [for] all [things] in the name of the Lord Jesus to God the Father through him. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. 18 Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives and do not be embittered against them. 19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing in the Lord. 20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
Fathers, do not provoke your children, so that they will not become discouraged. 21 Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.
Slaves, obey your {human} masters in everything, not {while being watched}, as people pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. 22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to win their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord.
Whatever you do, accomplish [it] from the soul, as to the Lord, and not to people, 23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men,
[because you] know that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. Serve the Lord Christ. 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
For the one who does wrong will receive back whatever wrong he has done, and there is no partiality. 25 Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism.
