Holman Christian Standard (CSB) New International Version (NIV)
[I want] their hearts to be encouraged and joined together in love, so that they may have all the riches of assured understanding, and have the knowledge of God's mystery-Christ. 2 My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ,
In Him all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden. 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
I am saying this so that no one will deceive you with persuasive arguments. 4 I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.
For I may be absent in body, but I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the strength of your faith in Christ. 5 For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how orderly you are and how firm your faith in Christ is.
Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in Him, 6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him,
rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
Be careful that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit based on human tradition, based on the elemental forces of the world, and not based on Christ. 8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.
For in Him the entire fullness of God's nature dwells bodily, 9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,
and you have been filled by Him, who is the head over every ruler and authority. 10 and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.
In Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not done with hands, by putting off the body of flesh, in the circumcision of the Messiah. 11 In him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of the sinful nature, not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ,
Having been buried with Him in baptism, you were also raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 12 having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.
