| King James Version (KJV) | New International Version (NIV) |
| 1 And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office , even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons. | 1 "Have Aaron your brother brought to you from among the Israelites, along with his sons Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, so they may serve me as priests. |
| 2 And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother for glory and for beauty. | 2 Make sacred garments for your brother Aaron, to give him dignity and honor. |
| 3 And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron's garments to consecrate him, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office . | 3 Tell all the skilled men to whom I have given wisdom in such matters that they are to make garments for Aaron, for his consecration, so he may serve me as priest. |
| 4 And these are the garments which they shall make ; a breastplate, and an ephod, and a robe, and a broidered coat, a mitre, and a girdle: and they shall make holy garments for Aaron thy brother, and his sons, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office . | 4 These are the garments they are to make: a breastpiece, an ephod, a robe, a woven tunic, a turban and a sash. They are to make these sacred garments for your brother Aaron and his sons, so they may serve me as priests. |
| 5 And they shall take gold, and blue, and purple, and scarlet , and fine linen. | 5 Have them use gold, and blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and fine linen. |
| 6 And they shall make the ephod of gold, of blue, and of purple, of scarlet , and fine twined linen, with cunning work. | 6 "Make the ephod of gold, and of blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and of finely twisted linen--the work of a skilled craftsman. |
| 7 It shall have the two shoulderpieces thereof joined at the two edges thereof; and so it shall be joined together . | 7 It is to have two shoulder pieces attached to two of its corners, so it can be fastened. |
| 8 And the curious girdle of the ephod, which is upon it, shall be of the same, according to the work thereof; even of gold, of blue, and purple, and scarlet , and fine twined linen. | 8 Its skillfully woven waistband is to be like it--of one piece with the ephod and made with gold, and with blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and with finely twisted linen. |
| 9 And thou shalt take two onyx stones, and grave on them the names of the children of Israel: | 9 "Take two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel |
| 10 Six of their names on one stone, and the other six names of the rest on the other stone, according to their birth. | 10 in the order of their birth--six names on one stone and the remaining six on the other. |
