Douay-Rheims (RHE) New International Version (NIV)
This was the vision of the likeness of the glory of the Lord, and I saw, and I fell upon my face, and I heard the voice of one that spoke, and he said to me: Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak to thee. 1 He said to me, "Son of man, stand up on your feet and I will speak to you."
And the spirit entered into me after that he spoke to me, and he set me upon my feet: and I heard him speaking to me, 2 As he spoke, the Spirit came into me and raised me to my feet, and I heard him speaking to me.
And saying: Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious people, that hath revolted from me, they, and their fathers, have transgressed my covenant even unto this day. 3 He said: "Son of man, I am sending you to the Israelites, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against me; they and their fathers have been in revolt against me to this very day.
And they to whom I send thee are children of a hard face, and of an obstinate heart: and thou shalt say to them: Thus saith the Lord God: 4 The people to whom I am sending you are obstinate and stubborn. Say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says.'
If so be they at least will hear, and if so be they will forbear, for they are a provoking house: and they shall know that there hath been a prophet in the midst of them. 5 And whether they listen or fail to listen--for they are a rebellious house--they will know that a prophet has been among them.
And thou, O son of man, fear not, neither be thou afraid of their words: for thou art among unbelievers and destroyers, and thou dwellest with scorpions. Fear not their words, neither be thou dismayed at their looks: for they are a provoking house. 6 And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns are all around you and you live among scorpions. Do not be afraid of what they say or terrified by them, though they are a rebellious house.
And thou shalt speak my words to them, if perhaps they will hear, and forbear: for they provoke me to anger. 7 You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen, for they are rebellious.
But thou, O son of man, hear all that I say to thee: and do not thou provoke me, as that house provoketh me: open thy mouth, and eat what I give thee. 8 But you, son of man, listen to what I say to you. Do not rebel like that rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I give you."
And I looked, and behold, a hand was sent to me, wherein was a book rolled up: 9 Then I looked, and I saw a hand stretched out to me. In it was a scroll,
(2-9) and he spread it before me, and it was written within and without: and there were written in it lamentations, and canticles, and woe. 10 which he unrolled before me. On both sides of it were written words of lament and mourning and woe.
