Hebrew Names Version (HNV) New International Version (NIV)
Then Yosef couldn't control himself before all those who stood before him, and he cried, "Cause every man to go out from me!" There stood no man with him, while Yosef made himself known to his brothers. 1 Then Joseph could no longer control himself before all his attendants, and he cried out, "Have everyone leave my presence!" So there was no one with Joseph when he made himself known to his brothers.
He wept aloud. The Mitzrim heard, and the house of Par`oh heard. 2 And he wept so loudly that the Egyptians heard him, and Pharaoh's household heard about it.
Yosef said to his brothers, "I am Yosef! Does my father still live?" His brothers couldn't answer him; for they were terrified at his presence. 3 Joseph said to his brothers, "I am Joseph! Is my father still living?" But his brothers were not able to answer him, because they were terrified at his presence.
Yosef said to his brothers, "Come near to me, please." They came near. "He said, I am Yosef, your brother, whom you sold into Mitzrayim. 4 Then Joseph said to his brothers, "Come close to me." When they had done so, he said, "I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt!
Now don't be grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life. 5 And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you.
For these two years has the famine been in the land, and there are yet five years, in which there will be neither plowing nor harvest. 6 For two years now there has been famine in the land, and for the next five years there will not be plowing and reaping.
God sent me before you to preserve you a remnant in the eretz, and to save you alive by a great deliverance. 7 But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.
So now it wasn't you who sent me here, but God, and he has made me a father to Par`oh, lord of all his house, and ruler over all the land of Mitzrayim. 8 "So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt.
Hurry, and go up to my father, and tell him, 'This is what your son Yosef says, "God has made me lord of all Mitzrayim. Come down to me. Don't wait. 9 Now hurry back to my father and say to him, 'This is what your son Joseph says: God has made me lord of all Egypt. Come down to me; don't delay.
You shall dwell in the land of Goshen, and you will be near to me, you, your children, your children's children, your flocks, your herds, and all that you have. 10 You shall live in the region of Goshen and be near me--you, your children and grandchildren, your flocks and herds, and all you have.
There I will nourish you; for there are yet five years of famine; lest you come to poverty, you, and your household, and all that you have."' 11 I will provide for you there, because five years of famine are still to come. Otherwise you and your household and all who belong to you will become destitute.'
Behold, your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Binyamin, that it is my mouth that speaks to you. 12 "You can see for yourselves, and so can my brother Benjamin, that it is really I who am speaking to you.
You shall tell my father of all my glory in Mitzrayim, and of all that you have seen. You shall hurry and bring my father down here." 13 Tell my father about all the honor accorded me in Egypt and about everything you have seen. And bring my father down here quickly."
He fell on his brother Binyamin's neck, and wept, and Binyamin wept on his neck. 14 Then he threw his arms around his brother Benjamin and wept, and Benjamin embraced him, weeping.
He kissed all his brothers, and wept on them. After that his brothers talked with him. 15 And he kissed all his brothers and wept over them. Afterward his brothers talked with him.
The report of it was heard in Par`oh's house, saying, "Yosef's brothers have come." It pleased Par`oh well, and his servants. 16 When the news reached Pharaoh's palace that Joseph's brothers had come, Pharaoh and all his officials were pleased.
Par`oh said to Yosef, "Tell your brothers, 'Do this. Load your animals, and go, travel to the land of Kana`an. 17 Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Tell your brothers, 'Do this: Load your animals and return to the land of Canaan,
Take your father and your households, and come to me, and I will give you the good of the land of Mitzrayim, and you will eat the fat of the land.' 18 and bring your father and your families back to me. I will give you the best of the land of Egypt and you can enjoy the fat of the land.'
Now you are commanded: do this. Take wagons out of the land of Mitzrayim for your little ones, and for your wives, and bring your father, and come. 19 "You are also directed to tell them, 'Do this: Take some carts from Egypt for your children and your wives, and get your father and come.
Also, don't concern yourselves about your belongings, for the good of all of the land of Mitzrayim is yours." 20 Never mind about your belongings, because the best of all Egypt will be yours.' "
The sons of Yisra'el did so. Yosef gave them wagons, according to the mitzvah of Par`oh, and gave them provision for the way. 21 So the sons of Israel did this. Joseph gave them carts, as Pharaoh had commanded, and he also gave them provisions for their journey.
To all of them he gave each man changes of clothing, but to Binyamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver and five changes of clothing. 22 To each of them he gave new clothing, but to Benjamin he gave three hundred shekels of silver and five sets of clothes.
To his father, he sent after this manner: ten donkeys laden with the good things of Mitzrayim, and ten she-asses laden with grain and bread and provision for his father by the way. 23 And this is what he sent to his father: ten donkeys loaded with the best things of Egypt, and ten female donkeys loaded with grain and bread and other provisions for his journey.
So he sent his brothers away, and they departed. He said to them, "See that you don't quarrel on the way." 24 Then he sent his brothers away, and as they were leaving he said to them, "Don't quarrel on the way!"
They went up out of Mitzrayim, and came into the land of Kana`an, to Ya`akov their father. 25 So they went up out of Egypt and came to their father Jacob in the land of Canaan.
They told him, saying, "Yosef is still alive, and he is ruler over all the land of Mitzrayim." His heart fainted, for he didn't believe them. 26 They told him, "Joseph is still alive! In fact, he is ruler of all Egypt." Jacob was stunned; he did not believe them.
They told him all the words of Yosef, which he had said to them. When he saw the wagons which Yosef had sent to carry him, the spirit of Ya`akov, their father, revived. 27 But when they told him everything Joseph had said to them, and when he saw the carts Joseph had sent to carry him back, the spirit of their father Jacob revived.
Yisra'el said, "It is enough. Yosef my son is still alive. I will go and see him before I die." 28 And Israel said, "I'm convinced! My son Joseph is still alive. I will go and see him before I die."
