World English Bible (WEB) New International Version (NIV)
It happened, when men began to multiply on the surface of the ground, and daughters were born to them, 1 When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them,
that God's sons saw that men's daughters were beautiful, and they took for themselves wives of all that they chose. 2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose.
Yahweh said, "My spirit will not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; yet will his days be one hundred twenty years." 3 Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years."
The Nephilim were in the earth in those days, and also after that, when God's sons came to men's daughters. They bore children to them: the same were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown. 4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.
Yahweh saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 5 The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time.
Yahweh was sorry that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him in his heart. 6 The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain.
Yahweh said, "I will destroy man whom I have created from the surface of the ground; man, along with animals, creeping things, and birds of the sky; for I am sorry that I have made them." 7 So the LORD said, "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth--men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air--for I am grieved that I have made them."
But Noah found favor in Yahweh's eyes. 8 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.
This is the history of the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time. Noah walked with God. 9 This is the account of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God.
Noah became the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. 10 Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth.
The earth was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 11 Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight and was full of violence.
God saw the earth, and saw that it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways.
God said to Noah, "The end of all flesh has come before me, for the earth is filled with violence through them. Behold, I will destroy them with the earth. 13 So God said to Noah, "I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.
Make an ark of gopher wood. You shall make rooms in the ark, and shall seal it inside and outside with pitch. 14 So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out.
This is how you shall make it. The length of the ark will be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits. 15 This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high.
You shall make a roof in the ark, and to a cubit shall you finish it upward. You shall set the door of the ark in the side of it. You shall make it with lower, second, and third levels. 16 Make a roof for it and finish the ark to within 18 inches of the top. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks.
I, even, I do bring the flood of waters on this earth, to destroy all flesh having the breath of life from under the sky. Everything that is in the earth will die. 17 I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish.
But I will establish my covenant with you. You shall come into the ark, you, your sons, your wife, and your sons' wives with you. 18 But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark--you and your sons and your wife and your sons' wives with you.
Of every living thing of all flesh, you shall bring two of every sort into the ark, to keep them alive with you. They shall be male and female. 19 You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you.
Of the birds after their kind, of the cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, two of every sort shall come to you, to keep them alive. 20 Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive.
Take with you of all food that is eaten, and gather it to you; and it will be for food for you, and for them. 21 You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them."
Thus Noah did. According to all that God commanded him, so he did. 22 Noah did everything just as God commanded him.
