Bible in Basic English (BBE) New International Version (NIV)
And God gave his blessing to Noah and his sons, and said, Be fertile, and have increase, and make the earth full. 1 Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.
And the fear of you will be strong in every beast of the earth and every bird of the air; everything which goes on the land, and all the fishes of the sea, are given into your hands. 2 The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands.
Every living and moving thing will be food for you; I give them all to you as before I gave you all green things. 3 Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.
But flesh with the life-blood in it you may not take for food. 4 "But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it.
And for your blood, which is your life, will I take payment; from every beast I will take it, and from every man will I take payment for the blood of his brother-man. 5 And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each man, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man.
Whoever takes a man's life, by man will his life be taken; because God made man in his image. 6 "Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man.
And now, be fertile and have increase; have offspring on the earth and become great in number. 7 As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it."
And God said to Noah and to his sons, 8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him:
Truly, I will make my agreement with you and with your seed after you, 9 "I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you
And with every living thing with you, all birds and cattle and every beast of the earth which comes out of the ark with you. 10 and with every living creature that was with you--the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you--every living creature on earth.
And I will make my agreement with you; never again will all flesh be cut off by the waters; never again will the waters come over all the earth for its destruction. 11 I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth."
And God said, This is the sign of the agreement which I make between me and you and every living thing with you, for all future generations: 12 And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:
I will put my bow in the cloud and it will be for a sign of the agreement between me and the earth. 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
And whenever I make a cloud come over the earth, the bow will be seen in the cloud, 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds,
And I will keep in mind the agreement between me and you and every living thing; and never again will there be a great flow of waters causing destruction to all flesh. 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.
And the bow will be in the cloud, and looking on it, I will keep in mind the eternal agreement between God and every living thing on the earth. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth."
And God said to Noah, This is the sign of the agreement which I have made between me and all flesh on the earth. 17 So God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth."
And the sons of Noah who went out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth; and Ham is the father of Canaan. 18 The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.)
These three were the sons of Noah and from them all the earth was peopled. 19 These were the three sons of Noah, and from them came the people who were scattered over the earth.
In those days Noah became a farmer, and he made a vine-garden. 20 Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded to plant a vineyard.
And he took of the wine of it and was overcome by drink; and he was uncovered in his tent. 21 When he drank some of its wine, he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent.
And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father unclothed, and gave news of it to his two brothers outside. 22 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father's nakedness and told his two brothers outside.
And Shem and Japheth took a robe, and putting it on their backs went in with their faces turned away, and put it over their father so that they might not see him unclothed. 23 But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father's nakedness. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father's nakedness.
And, awaking from his wine, Noah saw what his youngest son had done to him, and he said, 24 When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him,
Cursed be Canaan; let him be a servant of servants to his brothers. 25 he said, "Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers."
And he said, Praise to the Lord, the God of Shem; let Canaan be his servant. 26 He also said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Shem! May Canaan be the slave of Shem.
May God make Japheth great, and let his living-place be in the tents of Shem, and let Canaan be his servant. 27 May God extend the territory of Japheth; may Japheth live in the tents of Shem, and may Canaan be his slave."
And Noah went on living three hundred and fifty years after the great flow of waters; 28 After the flood Noah lived 350 years.
all the years of his life were nine hundred and fifty: and he came to his end. 29 Altogether, Noah lived 950 years, and then he died.
