The Darby Translation (DBY) New International Version (NIV)
God having spoken in many parts and in many ways formerly to the fathers in the prophets, 1 In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways,
at the end of these days has spoken to us in [the person of the] Son, whom he has established heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.
who being [the] effulgence of his glory and [the] expression of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, having made [by himself] the purification of sins, set himself down on the right hand of the greatness on high, 3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
taking a place by so much better than the angels, as he inherits a name more excellent than they. 4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.
For to which of the angels said he ever, *Thou* art my Son: this day have *I* begotten thee? and again, *I* will be to him for father, and *he* shall be to me for son? 5 For to which of the angels did God ever say, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father " ? Or again, "I will be his Father, and he will be my Son" ?
and again, when he brings in the firstborn into the habitable world, he says, And let all God's angels worship him. 6 And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him."
And as to the angels he says, Who makes his angels spirits and his ministers a flame of fire; 7 In speaking of the angels he says, "He makes his angels winds, his servants flames of fire."
but as to the Son, Thy throne, O God, [is] to the age of the age, and a sceptre of uprightness [is] the sceptre of thy kingdom. 8 But about the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.
Thou hast loved righteousness and hast hated lawlessness; therefore God, thy God, has anointed thee with oil of gladness above thy companions. 9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy."
And, *Thou* in the beginning, Lord, hast founded the earth, and works of thy hands are the heavens. 10 He also says, "In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.
They shall perish, but *thou* continuest still; and they all shall grow old as a garment, 11 They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment.
and as a covering shalt thou roll them up, and they shall be changed; but *thou* art the Same, and thy years shall not fail. 12 You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will never end."
But as to which of the angels said he ever, Sit at my right hand until I put thine enemies [as] footstool of thy feet? 13 To which of the angels did God ever say, "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet" ?
Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out for service on account of those who shall inherit salvation? 14 Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
