James, a bondservant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad: Greetings. 1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes scattered among the nations: Greetings.
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds,
knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.
But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. 4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 6 But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 7 That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord;
he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.
Let the lowly brother glory in his exaltation, 9 The brother in humble circumstances ought to take pride in his high position.
but the rich in his humiliation, because as a flower of the field he will pass away. 10 But the one who is rich should take pride in his low position, because he will pass away like a wild flower.
