Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. 13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.
But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. 14 But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.
This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. 15 Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil.
For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. 16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. 17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.
And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. 18 Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.
