The Lord answered Job: 1 The LORD said to Job:
Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct [Him]? Let him who argues with God give an answer. 2 "Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let him who accuses God answer him!"
Then Job answered the Lord: 3 Then Job answered the LORD:
I am so insignificant. How can I answer You? I place my hand over my mouth. 4 "I am unworthy--how can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth.
I have spoken once, and I will not reply; twice, but [now] I can add nothing. 5 I spoke once, but I have no answer-- twice, but I will say no more."
Then the Lord answered Job from the whirlwind: 6 Then the LORD spoke to Job out of the storm:
Get ready to answer Me like a man; When I question you, you will inform Me. 7 "Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me.
Would you really challenge My justice? Would you declare Me guilty to justify yourself? 8 "Would you discredit my justice? Would you condemn me to justify yourself ?
Do you have an arm like God's? Can you thunder with a voice like His? 9 Do you have an arm like God's, and can your voice thunder like his?
Adorn yourself with majesty and splendor, and clothe yourself with honor and glory. 10 Then adorn yourself with glory and splendor, and clothe yourself in honor and majesty.
Unleash your raging anger; look on every proud person and humiliate him. 11 Unleash the fury of your wrath, look at every proud man and bring him low,
Look on every proud person and humble him; trample the wicked where they stand. 12 look at every proud man and humble him, crush the wicked where they stand.
Hide them together in the dust; imprison them in the grave. 13 Bury them all in the dust together; shroud their faces in the grave.
Then I will confess to you that your own right hand can deliver you. 14 Then I myself will admit to you that your own right hand can save you.
Look at Behemoth, which I made along with you. He eats grass like an ox. 15 "Look at the behemoth, which I made along with you and which feeds on grass like an ox.
Look at the strength of his loins and the power in the muscles of his belly. 16 What strength he has in his loins, what power in the muscles of his belly!
He stiffens his tail like a cedar tree; the tendons of his thighs are woven firmly together. 17 His tail sways like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are close-knit.
His bones are bronze tubes; his limbs are like iron rods. 18 His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like rods of iron.
He is the foremost of God's works; [only] his Maker can draw the sword against him. 19 He ranks first among the works of God, yet his Maker can approach him with his sword.
The hills yield food for him, while all [sorts of] wild animals play there. 20 The hills bring him their produce, and all the wild animals play nearby.
He lies under the lotus plants, hiding in the protection of marshy reeds. 21 Under the lotus plants he lies, hidden among the reeds in the marsh.
Lotus plants cover him with their shade; the willows by the brook surround him. 22 The lotuses conceal him in their shadow; the poplars by the stream surround him.
Though the river rages, Behemoth is unafraid; he remains confident, even if the Jordan surges up to his mouth. 23 When the river rages, he is not alarmed; he is secure, though the Jordan should surge against his mouth.
Can anyone capture him while he looks on, or pierce his nose with snares? 24 Can anyone capture him by the eyes, or trap him and pierce his nose?
