Revised Standard Version (RSV) New International Version (NIV)
I am not speaking of you all; I know whom I have chosen; it is that the scripture may be fulfilled, 'He who ate my bread has lifted his heel against me.' 18 "I am not referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen. But this is to fulfill the scripture: 'He who shares my bread has lifted up his heel against me.'
I tell you this now, before it takes place, that when it does take place you may believe that I am he. 19 "I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am He.
Truly, truly, I say to you, he who receives any one whom I send receives me; and he who receives me receives him who sent me." 20 I tell you the truth, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me."
When Jesus had thus spoken, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, "Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me." 21 After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified, "I tell you the truth, one of you is going to betray me."
The disciples looked at one another, uncertain of whom he spoke. 22 His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant.
One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was lying close to the breast of Jesus; 23 One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to him.
so Simon Peter beckoned to him and said, "Tell us who it is of whom he speaks." 24 Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, "Ask him which one he means."
So lying thus, close to the breast of Jesus, he said to him, "Lord, who is it?" 25 Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, "Lord, who is it?"
Jesus answered, "It is he to whom I shall give this morsel when I have dipped it." So when he had dipped the morsel, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. 26 Jesus answered, "It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish." Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, son of Simon.
Then after the morsel, Satan entered into him. Jesus said to him, "What you are going to do, do quickly." 27 As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. "What you are about to do, do quickly," Jesus told him,
Now no one at the table knew why he said this to him. 28 but no one at the meal understood why Jesus said this to him.
Some thought that, because Judas had the money box, Jesus was telling him, "Buy what we need for the feast"; or, that he should give something to the poor. 29 Since Judas had charge of the money, some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the Feast, or to give something to the poor.
So, after receiving the morsel, he immediately went out; and it was night. 30 As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out. And it was night.
