Revised Standard Version (RSV) New International Version (NIV)
concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no more; 10 in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer;
concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. 11 and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.
"I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 12 "I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.
When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 14 He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.
All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.
"A little while, and you will see me no more; again a little while, and you will see me." 16 "In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me."
Some of his disciples said to one another, "What is this that he says to us, 'A little while, and you will not see me, and again a little while, and you will see me'; and, 'because I go to the Father'?" 17 Some of his disciples said to one another, "What does he mean by saying, 'In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me,' and 'Because I am going to the Father'?"
They said, "What does he mean by 'a little while'? We do not know what he means." 18 They kept asking, "What does he mean by 'a little while'? We don't understand what he is saying."
Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him; so he said to them, "Is this what you are asking yourselves, what I meant by saying, 'A little while, and you will not see me, and again a little while, and you will see me'? 19 Jesus saw that they wanted to ask him about this, so he said to them, "Are you asking one another what I meant when I said, 'In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me'?
Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy. 20 I tell you the truth, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.
