New Living Translation (NLT) New International Version (NIV)
Later Jesus appeared again to the disciples beside the Sea of Galilee. This is how it happened. 1 Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Tiberias. It happened this way:
Several of the disciples were there -- Simon Peter, Thomas (nicknamed the Twin ), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples. 2 Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together.
Simon Peter said, "I'm going fishing." "We'll come, too," they all said. So they went out in the boat, but they caught nothing all night. 3 "I'm going out to fish," Simon Peter told them, and they said, "We'll go with you." So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
At dawn the disciples saw Jesus standing on the beach, but they couldn't see who he was. 4 Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.
He called out, "Friends, have you caught any fish?" "No," they replied. 5 He called out to them, "Friends, haven't you any fish?" "No," they answered.
Then he said, "Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you'll get plenty of fish!" So they did, and they couldn't draw in the net because there were so many fish in it. 6 He said, "Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some." When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.
Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his tunic (for he had stripped for work), jumped into the water, and swam ashore. 7 Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, "It is the Lord," he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water.
The others stayed with the boat and pulled the loaded net to the shore, for they were only out about three hundred feet. 8 The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards.
When they got there, they saw that a charcoal fire was burning and fish were frying over it, and there was bread. 9 When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread.
"Bring some of the fish you've just caught," Jesus said. 10 Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish you have just caught."
So Simon Peter went aboard and dragged the net to the shore. There were 153 large fish, and yet the net hadn't torn. 11 Simon Peter climbed aboard and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn.
"Now come and have some breakfast!" Jesus said. And no one dared ask him if he really was the Lord because they were sure of it. 12 Jesus said to them, "Come and have breakfast." None of the disciples dared ask him, "Who are you?" They knew it was the Lord.
Then Jesus served them the bread and the fish. 13 Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish.
This was the third time Jesus had appeared to his disciples since he had been raised from the dead. 14 This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.
