Then the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, 1 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron,
"When a man has on the skin of his body a swelling or a scab or a bright spot, and it becomes an infection of leprosy on the skin of his body, then he shall be brought to Aaron the priest or to one of his sons the priests. 2 "When anyone has a swelling or a rash or a bright spot on his skin that may become an infectious skin disease, he must be brought to Aaron the priest or to one of his sons who is a priest.
"The priest shall look at the mark on the skin of the body, and if the hair in the infection has turned white and the infection appears to be deeper than the skin of his body, it is an infection of leprosy ; when the priest has looked at him, he shall pronounce him unclean. 3 The priest is to examine the sore on his skin, and if the hair in the sore has turned white and the sore appears to be more than skin deep, it is an infectious skin disease. When the priest examines him, he shall pronounce him ceremonially unclean.
"But if the bright spot is white on the skin of his body, and it does not appear to be deeper than the skin, and the hair on it has not turned white, then the priest shall isolate him who has the infection for seven days. 4 If the spot on his skin is white but does not appear to be more than skin deep and the hair in it has not turned white, the priest is to put the infected person in isolation for seven days.
"The priest shall look at him on the seventh day, and if in his eyes the infection has not changed and the infection has not spread on the skin, then the priest shall isolate him for seven more days. 5 On the seventh day the priest is to examine him, and if he sees that the sore is unchanged and has not spread in the skin, he is to keep him in isolation another seven days.
"The priest shall look at him again on the seventh day, and if the infection has faded and the mark has not spread on the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him clean ; it is only a scab. And he shall wash his clothes and be clean. 6 On the seventh day the priest is to examine him again, and if the sore has faded and has not spread in the skin, the priest shall pronounce him clean; it is only a rash. The man must wash his clothes, and he will be clean.
"But if the scab spreads farther on the skin after he has shown himself to the priest for his cleansing, he shall appear again to the priest. 7 But if the rash does spread in his skin after he has shown himself to the priest to be pronounced clean, he must appear before the priest again.
"The priest shall look, and if the scab has spread on the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean ; it is leprosy. 8 The priest is to examine him, and if the rash has spread in the skin, he shall pronounce him unclean; it is an infectious disease.
"When the infection of leprosy is on a man, then he shall be brought to the priest. 9 "When anyone has an infectious skin disease, he must be brought to the priest.
"The priest shall then look, and if there is a white swelling in the skin, and it has turned the hair white, and there is quick raw flesh in the swelling, 10 The priest is to examine him, and if there is a white swelling in the skin that has turned the hair white and if there is raw flesh in the swelling,
it is a chronic leprosy on the skin of his body, and the priest shall pronounce him unclean ; he shall not isolate him, for he is unclean. 11 it is a chronic skin disease and the priest shall pronounce him unclean. He is not to put him in isolation, because he is already unclean.
"If the leprosy breaks out farther on the skin, and the leprosy covers all the skin of him who has the infection from his head even to his feet, as far as the priest can see , 12 "If the disease breaks out all over his skin and, so far as the priest can see, it covers all the skin of the infected person from head to foot,
then the priest shall look, and behold, if the leprosy has covered all his body, he shall pronounce clean him who has the infection ; it has all turned white and he is clean. 13 the priest is to examine him, and if the disease has covered his whole body, he shall pronounce that person clean. Since it has all turned white, he is clean.
"But whenever raw flesh appears on him, he shall be unclean. 14 But whenever raw flesh appears on him, he will be unclean.
"The priest shall look at the raw flesh, and he shall pronounce him unclean ; the raw flesh is unclean, it is leprosy. 15 When the priest sees the raw flesh, he shall pronounce him unclean. The raw flesh is unclean; he has an infectious disease.
"Or if the raw flesh turns again and is changed to white, then he shall come to the priest, 16 Should the raw flesh change and turn white, he must go to the priest.
and the priest shall look at him, and behold, if the infection has turned to white, then the priest shall pronounce clean him who has the infection ; he is clean. 17 The priest is to examine him, and if the sores have turned white, the priest shall pronounce the infected person clean; then he will be clean.
"When the body has a boil on its skin and it is healed, 18 "When someone has a boil on his skin and it heals,
and in the place of the boil there is a white swelling or a reddish-white, bright spot, then it shall be shown to the priest ; 19 and in the place where the boil was, a white swelling or reddish-white spot appears, he must present himself to the priest.
and the priest shall look, and behold, if it appears to be lower than the skin, and the hair on it has turned white, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean ; it is the infection of leprosy, it has broken out in the boil. 20 The priest is to examine it, and if it appears to be more than skin deep and the hair in it has turned white, the priest shall pronounce him unclean. It is an infectious skin disease that has broken out where the boil was.
"But if the priest looks at it, and behold, there are no white hairs in it and it is not lower than the skin and is faded, then the priest shall isolate him for seven days ; 21 But if, when the priest examines it, there is no white hair in it and it is not more than skin deep and has faded, then the priest is to put him in isolation for seven days.
and if it spreads farther on the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean ; it is an infection. 22 If it is spreading in the skin, the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is infectious.
"But if the bright spot remains in its place and does not spread, it is only the scar of the boil ; and the priest shall pronounce him clean. 23 But if the spot is unchanged and has not spread, it is only a scar from the boil, and the priest shall pronounce him clean.
"Or if the body sustains in its skin a burn by fire, and the raw flesh of the burn becomes a bright spot, reddish-white, or white, 24 "When someone has a burn on his skin and a reddish-white or white spot appears in the raw flesh of the burn,
then the priest shall look at it. And if the hair in the bright spot has turned white and it appears to be deeper than the skin, it is leprosy ; it has broken out in the burn. Therefore, the priest shall pronounce him unclean ; it is an infection of leprosy. 25 the priest is to examine the spot, and if the hair in it has turned white, and it appears to be more than skin deep, it is an infectious disease that has broken out in the burn. The priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is an infectious skin disease.
"But if the priest looks at it, and indeed, there is no white hair in the bright spot and it is no deeper than the skin, but is dim, then the priest shall isolate him for seven days ; 26 But if the priest examines it and there is no white hair in the spot and if it is not more than skin deep and has faded, then the priest is to put him in isolation for seven days.
and the priest shall look at him on the seventh day. If it spreads farther in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean ; it is an infection of leprosy. 27 On the seventh day the priest is to examine him, and if it is spreading in the skin, the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is an infectious skin disease.
"But if the bright spot remains in its place and has not spread in the skin, but is dim, it is the swelling from the burn ; and the priest shall pronounce him clean, for it is only the scar of the burn. 28 If, however, the spot is unchanged and has not spread in the skin but has faded, it is a swelling from the burn, and the priest shall pronounce him clean; it is only a scar from the burn.
"Now if a man or woman has an infection on the head or on the beard, 29 "If a man or woman has a sore on the head or on the chin,
then the priest shall look at the infection, and if it appears to be deeper than the skin and there is thin yellowish hair in it, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean ; it is a scale, it is leprosy of the head or of the beard. 30 the priest is to examine the sore, and if it appears to be more than skin deep and the hair in it is yellow and thin, the priest shall pronounce that person unclean; it is an itch, an infectious disease of the head or chin.
"But if the priest looks at the infection of the scale, and indeed, it appears to be no deeper than the skin and there is no black hair in it, then the priest shall isolate the person with the scaly infection for seven days. 31 But if, when the priest examines this kind of sore, it does not seem to be more than skin deep and there is no black hair in it, then the priest is to put the infected person in isolation for seven days.
"On the seventh day the priest shall look at the infection, and if the scale has not spread and no yellowish hair has grown in it, and the appearance of the scale is no deeper than the skin, 32 On the seventh day the priest is to examine the sore, and if the itch has not spread and there is no yellow hair in it and it does not appear to be more than skin deep,
then he shall shave himself, but he shall not shave the scale ; and the priest shall isolate the person with the scale seven more days. 33 he must be shaved except for the diseased area, and the priest is to keep him in isolation another seven days.
"Then on the seventh day the priest shall look at the scale, and if the scale has not spread in the skin and it appears to be no deeper than the skin, the priest shall pronounce him clean ; and he shall wash his clothes and be clean. 34 On the seventh day the priest is to examine the itch, and if it has not spread in the skin and appears to be no more than skin deep, the priest shall pronounce him clean. He must wash his clothes, and he will be clean.
"But if the scale spreads farther in the skin after his cleansing, 35 But if the itch does spread in the skin after he is pronounced clean,
then the priest shall look at him, and if the scale has spread in the skin, the priest need not seek for the yellowish hair ; he is unclean. 36 the priest is to examine him, and if the itch has spread in the skin, the priest does not need to look for yellow hair; the person is unclean.
"If in his sight the scale has remained, however, and black hair has grown in it, the scale has healed, he is clean ; and the priest shall pronounce him clean. 37 If, however, in his judgment it is unchanged and black hair has grown in it, the itch is healed. He is clean, and the priest shall pronounce him clean.
"When a man or a woman has bright spots on the skin of the body, even white bright spots, 38 "When a man or woman has white spots on the skin,
then the priest shall look, and if the bright spots on the skin of their bodies are a faint white, it is eczema that has broken out on the skin ; he is clean. 39 the priest is to examine them, and if the spots are dull white, it is a harmless rash that has broken out on the skin; that person is clean.
"Now if a man loses the hair of his head, he is bald ; he is clean. 40 "When a man has lost his hair and is bald, he is clean.
"If his head becomes bald at the front and sides, he is bald on the forehead ; he is clean. 41 If he has lost his hair from the front of his scalp and has a bald forehead, he is clean.
"But if on the bald head or the bald forehead, there occurs a reddish-white infection, it is leprosy breaking out on his bald head or on his bald forehead. 42 But if he has a reddish-white sore on his bald head or forehead, it is an infectious disease breaking out on his head or forehead.
"Then the priest shall look at him; and if the swelling of the infection is reddish-white on his bald head or on his bald forehead, like the appearance of leprosy in the skin of the body, 43 The priest is to examine him, and if the swollen sore on his head or forehead is reddish-white like an infectious skin disease,
he is a leprous man, he is unclean. The priest shall surely pronounce him unclean ; his infection is on his head. 44 the man is diseased and is unclean. The priest shall pronounce him unclean because of the sore on his head.
"As for the leper who has the infection, his clothes shall be torn, and the hair of his head shall be uncovered, and he shall cover his mustache and cry, 'Unclean ! Unclean !' 45 "The person with such an infectious disease must wear torn clothes, let his hair be unkempt, cover the lower part of his face and cry out, 'Unclean! Unclean!'
"He shall remain unclean all the days during which he has the infection ; he is unclean. He shall live alone ; his dwelling shall be outside the camp. 46 As long as he has the infection he remains unclean. He must live alone; he must live outside the camp.
