And after these [things], the Lord also appointed seventy-two others and sent them out two by two before {him} into every town and place where he was about to go. 1 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go.
And he said to them, "The harvest [is] plentiful, but the workers [are] few. Therefore ask the Lord of the harvest that he send out workers into his harvest. 2 He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.
Go! Behold, I am sending you out like lambs in the midst of wolves! 3 Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.
Do not carry a money bag or a traveler's bag or sandals, and greet no one along the road. 4 Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.
And into whatever house you enter, first say, "Peace [be] to this household!" 5 "When you enter a house, first say, 'Peace to this house.'
And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on him. But if not, it will return to you. 6 If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you.
And remain in the same house, eating and drinking {whatever they provide}, for the worker [is] worthy of his pay. Do not move from house to house. 7 Stay in that house, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house.
And into whatever town you enter and they welcome you, eat {whatever is} set before you, 8 "When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is set before you.
and heal the sick in it, and say to them, "The kingdom of God has come near to you." 9 Heal the sick who are there and tell them, 'The kingdom of God is near you.'
But into whatever town you enter and they do not welcome you, go out into its streets [and] say, 10 But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say,
"Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you! Nevertheless know this: that the kingdom of God has come near!" 11 'Even the dust of your town that sticks to our feet we wipe off against you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God is near.'
I tell you that it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town! 12 I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.
Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes! 13 "Woe to you, Korazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
But it will be more bearable for Tyre and for Sidon in the judgment than for you! 14 But it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you.
And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? No! You will be brought down to Hades! 15 And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to the skies? No, you will go down to the depths.
The one who listens to you listens to me, and the one who rejects you rejects me. But the one who rejects me rejects the one who sent me." 16 "He who listens to you listens to me; he who rejects you rejects me; but he who rejects me rejects him who sent me."
