Now after these things the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself was about to come. 1 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go.
And he said unto them, The harvest indeed is plenteous, but the laborers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth laborers into his harvest. 2 He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.
Go your ways; behold, I send you forth as lambs in the midst of wolves. 3 Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.
Carry no purse, no wallet, no shoes; and salute no man on the way. 4 Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.
And into whatsoever house ye shall enter, first say, Peace [be] to this house. 5 "When you enter a house, first say, 'Peace to this house.'
And if a son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon him: but if not, it shall turn to you again. 6 If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you.
