Holman Christian Standard (CSB) New International Version (NIV)
While they were traveling, He entered a village, and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. 38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him.
She had a sister named Mary, who also sat at the Lord's feet and was listening to what He said. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said.
But Martha was distracted by her many tasks, and she came up and asked, "Lord, don't You care that my sister has left me to serve alone? So tell her to give me a hand." 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself ? Tell her to help me!"
The Lord answered her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, 41 "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things,
but one thing is necessary. Mary has made the right choice, and it will not be taken away from her." 42 but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."
