Now as they traveled along, he entered into a certain village. And a certain woman {named} Martha welcomed him. 38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him.
And {she had} a sister named Mary, who also sat at the feet of Jesus [and] was listening to his teaching. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said.
But Martha was distracted with much preparation, so she approached [and] said, "Lord, is it not a concern to you that my sister has left me alone to make preparations? Then tell her that she should help me!" 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself ? Tell her to help me!"
But the Lord answered [and] said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many [things]! 41 "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things,
But few [things] are necessary, or [only] one [thing], for Mary has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her." 42 but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."
