King James Version (KJV) New International Version (NIV)
Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold , we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished . 31 Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, "We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled.
For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked , and spitefully entreated , and spitted on : 32 He will be handed over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him, spit on him, flog him and kill him.
And they shall scourge him, and put him to death : and the third day he shall rise again . 33 On the third day he will rise again."
And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them , neither knew they the things which were spoken . 34 The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about.
