GOD'S WORD Translation (GW) New International Version (NIV)
The Festival of Unleavened Bread, called Passover, was near. 1 Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread, called the Passover, was approaching,
The chief priests and the scribes were looking for some way to kill Jesus. However, they were afraid of the people. 2 and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus, for they were afraid of the people.
Then Satan entered Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve apostles. 3 Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve.
Judas went to the chief priests and the temple guards and discussed with them how he could betray Jesus. 4 And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus.
They were pleased and agreed to give him some money. 5 They were delighted and agreed to give him money.
So Judas promised to do it. He kept looking for an opportunity to betray Jesus to them when there was no crowd. 6 He consented, and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them when no crowd was present.
