Jesus answered him, "It is written, "One does not live by bread alone.' " 4 Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone.' "
Then the devil led him up and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. 5 The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world.
And the devil said to him, "To you I will give their glory and all this authority; for it has been given over to me, and I give it to anyone I please. 6 And he said to him, "I will give you all their authority and splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to.
If you, then, will worship me, it will all be yours." 7 So if you worship me, it will all be yours."
Jesus answered him, "It is written, "Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him.' " 8 Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.' "

for it is written, "He will command his angels concerning you, to protect you,' 10 For it is written: " 'He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully;
and "On their hands they will bear you up, so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.' " 11 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.' "
Jesus answered him, "It is said, "Do not put the Lord your God to the test.' " 12 Jesus answered, "It says: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.' "
When the devil had finished every test, he departed from him until an opportune time. 13 When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.
