And He said to them all, "If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 23 Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever will lose his life for My sake, the same shall save it. 24 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.
For what is a man advantaged if he gain the whole world, and lose himself or be cast away? 25 What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self ?
For whosoever shall be ashamed of Me and of My words, of him shall the Son of Man be ashamed when He shall come in His own glory and in His Father's and of the holy angels. 26 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.
But I tell you in truth, there are some standing here that shall not taste of death till they see the Kingdom of God." 27 I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God."
And it came to pass about eight days after these sayings, He took Peter and John and James, and went up onto a mountain to pray. 28 About eight days after Jesus said this, he took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray.
And as He prayed, the appearance of His countenance was altered, and His raiment was white and glistening. 29 As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.
And behold, there talked with Him two men, who were Moses and Elijah, 30 Two men, Moses and Elijah,
who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He should accomplish at Jerusalem. 31 appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus. They spoke about his departure, which he was about to bring to fulfillment at Jerusalem.
But Peter and those who were with him were heavy with sleep. And when they were awake, they saw His glory and the two men who stood with Him. 32 Peter and his companions were very sleepy, but when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.
And it came to pass as they departed from Him, Peter said unto Jesus, "Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for Thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah" -- not knowing what he was saying. 33 As the men were leaving Jesus, Peter said to him, "Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters--one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah." (He did not know what he was saying.)
