basking in prominent positions, sitting at the head table at every church function. 39 and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets.

Sitting across from the offering box, he was observing how the crowd tossed money in for the collection. Many of the rich were making large contributions. 41 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts.
One poor widow came up and put in two small coins - a measly two cents. 42 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny.
Jesus called his disciples over and said, "The truth is that this poor widow gave more to the collection than all the others put together. 43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.
All the others gave what they'll never miss; she gave extravagantly what she couldn't afford - she gave her all." 44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything--all she had to live on."
