New Living Translation (NLT) New International Version (NIV)
Jesus went on to say, "I assure you that some of you standing here right now will not die before you see the Kingdom of God arrive in great power!" 1 And he said to them, "I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God come with power."
Six days later Jesus took Peter, James, and John to the top of a mountain. No one else was there. As the men watched, Jesus' appearance changed, 2 After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them.
and his clothing became dazzling white, far whiter than any earthly process could ever make it. 3 His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them.
Then Elijah and Moses appeared and began talking with Jesus. 4 And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus.
"Teacher, this is wonderful!" Peter exclaimed. "We will make three shrines -- one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." 5 Peter said to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters--one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah."
He didn't really know what to say, for they were all terribly afraid. 6 (He did not know what to say, they were so frightened.)
Then a cloud came over them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my beloved Son. Listen to him." 7 Then a cloud appeared and enveloped them, and a voice came from the cloud: "This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!"
Suddenly they looked around, and Moses and Elijah were gone, and only Jesus was with them. 8 Suddenly, when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus.
