Now when he heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee; 12 When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he returned to Galilee.
and leaving Nazareth he went and dwelt in Caper'na-um by the sea, in the territory of Zeb'ulun and Naph'tali, 13 Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali--
that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: 14 to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah:
"The land of Zeb'ulun and the land of Naph'tali, toward the sea, across the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles-- 15 "Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way to the sea, along the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles--
the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned." 16 the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned."
From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." 17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."
As he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.
And he said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." 19 "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."
Immediately they left their nets and followed him. 20 At once they left their nets and followed him.
And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zeb'edee and John his brother, in the boat with Zeb'edee their father, mending their nets, and he called them. 21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them,
Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed him. 22 and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.
And he went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every infirmity among the people. 23 Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.
So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, and paralytics, and he healed them. 24 News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed, and he healed them.
And great crowds followed him from Galilee and the Decap'olis and Jerusalem and Judea and from beyond the Jordan. 25 Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him.
