Doesn't Wisdom cry out and Understanding shout? 1 Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?
Atop the heights along the path, at the crossroads she takes her stand. 2 On the heights along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand;
By the gate before the city, at the entrances she shouts: 3 beside the gates leading into the city, at the entrances, she cries aloud:
I cry out to you, people; my voice goes out to all of humanity. 4 "To you, O men, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind.
Understand skill, you who are naive. Take this to heart, you fools. 5 You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, gain understanding.
Listen, for I speak things that are correct; from my lips comes what is right. 6 Listen, for I have worthy things to say; I open my lips to speak what is right.
My mouth utters the truth; my lips despise wickedness. 7 My mouth speaks what is true, for my lips detest wickedness.
All the words of my mouth are righteous; nothing in them is twisted or crooked. 8 All the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse.
All of them are straightforward to those who understand, and upright for the knowledgeable. 9 To the discerning all of them are right; they are faultless to those who have knowledge.
Take my instruction rather than silver, knowledge rather than choice gold. 10 Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold,
Wisdom is better than pearls; nothing is more delightful than she. 11 for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.
I, Wisdom, dwell with prudence; I have found knowledge and discretion. 12 "I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion.
To fear the LORD is to hate evil. I hate pride and arrogance, the path of evil and corrupt speech. 13 To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.
I have advice and ability, as well as understanding and strength. 14 Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have understanding and power.
By me kings rule, and princes issue righteous decrees. 15 By me kings reign and rulers make laws that are just;
By me rulers govern, and officials judge righteously. 16 by me princes govern, and all nobles who rule on earth.
I love those who love me; those who seek me will find me. 17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.
Riches and honor are with me, as well as enduring wealth and righteousness. 18 With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity.
My fruit is better than gold, even fine gold; my crops are better than choice silver. 19 My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver.
I walk on the way of righteousness, on the paths of justice, 20 I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice,
to provide for those who love me and to fill up their treasuries. 21 bestowing wealth on those who love me and making their treasuries full.
The LORD created me at the beginning of his way, before his deeds long in the past. 22 "The LORD brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old;
I was formed in ancient times, at the beginning, before the earth was. 23 I was appointed from eternity, from the beginning, before the world began.
When there were no watery depths, I was brought forth, when there were no springs flowing with water. 24 When there were no oceans, I was given birth, when there were no springs abounding with water;
Before the mountains were settled, before the hills, I was brought forth; 25 before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was given birth,
before God made the earth and the fields or the first of the dry land. 26 before he made the earth or its fields or any of the dust of the world.
I was there when he established the heavens, when he marked out the horizon on the deep sea, 27 I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep,
when he thickened the clouds above, when he secured the fountains of the deep, 28 when he established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep,
when he set a limit for the sea, so the water couldn't go beyond his command, when he marked out the earth's foundations. 29 when he gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep his command, and when he marked out the foundations of the earth.
I was beside him as a master of crafts. I was having fun, smiling before him all the time, 30 Then I was the craftsman at his side. I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence,
frolicking with his inhabited earth and delighting in the human race. 31 rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.
Now children, listen to me: Happy are those who keep to my ways! 32 "Now then, my sons, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my ways.
Listen to instruction, and be wise; don't avoid it. 33 Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not ignore it.
Happy are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorposts. 34 Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway.
Those who find me find life; they gain favor from the LORD. 35 For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the LORD.
Those who offend me injure themselves; all those who hate me love death. 36 But whoever fails to find me harms himself; all who hate me love death."
