| New Century Version (NCV) | New International Version (NIV) |
| 1 Happy are those who don't listen to the wicked, who don't go where sinners go, who don't do what evil people do. | 1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. |
| 2 They love the Lord's teachings, and they think about those teachings day and night. | 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. |
| 3 They are strong, like a tree planted by a river. The tree produces fruit in season, and its leaves don't die. Everything they do will succeed. | 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. |
| 4 But wicked people are not like that. They are like chaff that the wind blows away. | 4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. |
| 5 So the wicked will not escape God's punishment. Sinners will not worship with God's people. | 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. |
| 6 This is because the Lord takes care of his people, but the wicked will be destroyed. | 6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. |
