The Message (MSG) New International Version (NIV)
Hallelujah! Blessed man, blessed woman, who fear God, Who cherish and relish his commandments, 1 Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in his commands.
Their children robust on the earth, And the homes of the upright - how blessed! 2 His children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.
Their houses brim with wealth And a generosity that never runs dry. 3 Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.
Sunrise breaks through the darkness for good people - God's grace and mercy and justice! 4 Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man.
The good person is generous and lends lavishly; 5 Good will come to him who is generous and lends freely, who conducts his affairs with justice.
No shuffling or stumbling around for this one, But a sterling and solid and lasting reputation. 6 Surely he will never be shaken; a righteous man will be remembered forever.
Unfazed by rumor and gossip, Heart ready, trusting in God, 7 He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.
Spirit firm, unperturbed, Ever blessed, relaxed among enemies, 8 His heart is secure, he will have no fear; in the end he will look in triumph on his foes.
They lavish gifts on the poor - A generosity that goes on, and on, and on. An honored life! A beautiful life! 9 He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor, his righteousness endures forever; his horn will be lifted high in honor.
Someone wicked takes one look and rages, Blusters away but ends up speechless. There's nothing to the dreams of the wicked. Nothing. 10 The wicked man will see and be vexed, he will gnash his teeth and waste away; the longings of the wicked will come to nothing.
