Today's New International Version (TNIV) New International Version (NIV)
Help, LORD, for no one is faithful anymore; those who are loyal have vanished from the human race. 1 Help, LORD, for the godly are no more; the faithful have vanished from among men.
Everyone lies to their neighbor; they flatter with their lips but harbor deception in their hearts. 2 Everyone lies to his neighbor; their flattering lips speak with deception.
May the LORD silence all flattering lips and every boastful tongue-- 3 May the LORD cut off all flattering lips and every boastful tongue
those who say, "By our tongues we will prevail; our own lips will defend us--who is lord over us?" 4 that says, "We will triumph with our tongues; we own our lips--who is our master?"
"Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan, I will now arise," says the LORD. "I will protect them from those who malign them." 5 "Because of the oppression of the weak and the groaning of the needy, I will now arise," says the LORD. "I will protect them from those who malign them."
And the words of the LORD are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times. 6 And the words of the LORD are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified seven times.
You, LORD, will keep the needy safe and will protect us forever from the wicked, 7 O LORD, you will keep us safe and protect us from such people forever.
who freely strut about while depravity is honored by the human race. 8 The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men.
