<> In my distress, I cried to the LORD. He answered me. 1 I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me.
Deliver my soul, LORD, from lying lips, From a deceitful tongue. 2 Save me, O LORD, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.
What will be given to you, and what will be done more to you, You deceitful tongue? 3 What will he do to you, and what more besides, O deceitful tongue?
Sharp arrows of the mighty, With coals of juniper. 4 He will punish you with a warrior's sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom tree.
Woe is me, that I live in Meshekh, That I dwell among the tents of Kedar! 5 Woe to me that I dwell in Meshech, that I live among the tents of Kedar!
My soul has had her dwelling too long With him who hates shalom. 6 Too long have I lived among those who hate peace.
I am for shalom, But when I speak, they are for war. 7 I am a man of peace; but when I speak, they are for war.
