New Century Version (NCV) New International Version (NIV)
When the Lord brought the prisoners back to Jerusalem, it seemed as if we were dreaming. 1 When the LORD brought back the captives to Zion, we were like men who dreamed.
Then we were filled with laughter, and we sang happy songs. Then the other nations said, "The Lord has done great things for them." 2 Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them."
The Lord has done great things for us, and we are very glad. 3 The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.
Lord, return our prisoners again, as you bring streams to the desert. 4 Restore our fortunes, O LORD, like streams in the Negev.
Those who cry as they plant crops will sing at harvest time. 5 Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy.
Those who cry as they carry out the seeds will return singing and carrying bundles of grain. A song for going up to worship. Of Solomon. 6 He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him.
