American Standard Version (ASV) New International Version (NIV)
Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Jehovah. 1 Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD;
Lord, hear my voice: Let thine ears be attentive To the voice of my supplications. 2 O Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.
If thou, Jehovah, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? 3 If you, O LORD, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand?
But there is forgiveness with thee, That thou mayest be feared. 4 But with you there is forgiveness; therefore you are feared.
I wait for Jehovah, my soul doth wait, And in his word do I hope. 5 I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope.
My soul [waiteth] for the Lord More than watchmen [wait] for the morning; [Yea, more than] watchmen for the morning. 6 My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.
O Israel, hope in Jehovah; For with Jehovah there is lovingkindness, And with him is plenteous redemption. 7 O Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with him is full redemption.
And he will redeem Israel From all his iniquities. 8 He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins.
