Lord, remember David and all the hardships he endured, 1 O LORD, remember David and all the hardships he endured.
and how he swore an oath to the Lord, making a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob: 2 He swore an oath to the LORD and made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:
"I will not enter my house or get into my bed, 3 "I will not enter my house or go to my bed--
I will not allow my eyes to sleep or my eyelids to slumber 4 I will allow no sleep to my eyes, no slumber to my eyelids,
until I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob." 5 till I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob."
We heard of [the ark] in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar. 6 We heard it in Ephrathah, we came upon it in the fields of Jaar:
Let us go to His dwelling place; let us worship at His footstool. 7 "Let us go to his dwelling place; let us worship at his footstool--
Arise, Lord, come to Your resting place, You and the ark [that shows] Your strength. 8 arise, O LORD, and come to your resting place, you and the ark of your might.
May Your priests be clothed with righteousness, and may Your godly people shout for joy. 9 May your priests be clothed with righteousness; may your saints sing for joy."
Because of Your servant David, do not reject Your anointed one. 10 For the sake of David your servant, do not reject your anointed one.
The Lord swore an oath to David, a promise He will not abandon: "I will set one of your descendants on your throne. 11 The LORD swore an oath to David, a sure oath that he will not revoke: "One of your own descendants I will place on your throne--
If your sons keep My covenant and My decrees that I will teach them, their sons will also sit on your throne, forever." 12 if your sons keep my covenant and the statutes I teach them, then their sons will sit on your throne for ever and ever."
For the Lord has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His home: 13 For the LORD has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling:
"This is My resting place forever; I will make My home here because I have desired it. 14 "This is my resting place for ever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it--
I will abundantly bless its food; I will satisfy its needy with bread. 15 I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor will I satisfy with food.
I will clothe its priests with salvation, and its godly people will shout for joy. 16 I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will ever sing for joy.
There I will make a horn grow for David; I have prepared a lamp for My anointed one. 17 "Here I will make a horn grow for David and set up a lamp for my anointed one.
I will clothe his enemies with shame, but the crown he wears will be glorious." 18 I will clothe his enemies with shame, but the crown on his head will be resplendent."
