Good News Translation (GNT) New International Version (NIV)
Fools say to themselves, "There is no God!" They are all corrupt, and they have done terrible things; there is no one who does what is right. 1 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.
The Lord looks down from heaven at us humans to see if there are any who are wise, any who worship him. 2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.
But they have all gone wrong; they are all equally bad. Not one of them does what is right, not a single one. 3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
"Don't they know?" asks the Lord. "Are all these evildoers ignorant? They live by robbing my people, and they never pray to me." 4 Will evildoers never learn-- those who devour my people as men eat bread and who do not call on the LORD?
But then they will be terrified, for God is with those who obey him. 5 There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous.
Evildoers frustrate the plans of the humble, but the Lord is their protection. 6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.
How I pray that victory will come to Israel from Zion. How happy the people of Israel will be when the Lord makes them prosperous again! 7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!
