Revised Standard Version (RSV) New International Version (NIV)
To the choirmaster. Of David. The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none that does good. 1 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.
The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any that act wisely, that seek after God. 2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.
They have all gone astray, they are all alike corrupt; there is none that does good, no, not one. 3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call upon the LORD? 4 Will evildoers never learn-- those who devour my people as men eat bread and who do not call on the LORD?
There they shall be in great terror, for God is with the generation of the righteous. 5 There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous.
You would confound the plans of the poor, but the LORD is his refuge. 6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.
O that deliverance for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, Israel shall be glad. 7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!
