O LORD, I call upon You; hasten to me! Give ear to my voice when I call to You! 1 O LORD, I call to you; come quickly to me. Hear my voice when I call to you.
May my prayer be counted as incense before You; The lifting up of my hands as the evening offering. 2 May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.
Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips. 3 Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips.
Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, To practice deeds of wickedness With men who do iniquity; And do not let me eat of their delicacies. 4 Let not my heart be drawn to what is evil, to take part in wicked deeds with men who are evildoers; let me not eat of their delicacies.
Let the righteous smite me in kindness and reprove me; It is oil upon the head; Do not let my head refuse it, For still my prayer is against their wicked deeds. 5 Let a righteous man strike me--it is a kindness; let him rebuke me--it is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it. Yet my prayer is ever against the deeds of evildoers;
Their judges are thrown down by the sides of the rock, And they hear my words, for they are pleasant. 6 their rulers will be thrown down from the cliffs, and the wicked will learn that my words were well spoken.
As when one plows and breaks open the earth, Our bones have been scattered at the mouth of Sheol. 7 [They will say,] "As one plows and breaks up the earth, so our bones have been scattered at the mouth of the grave. "
For my eyes are toward You, O GOD, the Lord; In You I take refuge; do not leave me defenseless . 8 But my eyes are fixed on you, O Sovereign LORD; in you I take refuge--do not give me over to death.
Keep me from the jaws of the trap which they have set for me, And from the snares of those who do iniquity. 9 Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, from the traps set by evildoers.
Let the wicked fall into their own nets, While I pass by safely. 10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by in safety.
