GOD'S WORD Translation (GW) New International Version (NIV)
Protect me, O God, because I take refuge in you. 1 Keep me safe, O God, for in you I take refuge.
I said to the LORD, "You are my Lord. Without you, I have nothing good." 2 I said to the LORD, "You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing."
Those who lead holy lives on earth are the noble ones who fill me with joy. 3 As for the saints who are in the land, they are the glorious ones in whom is all my delight.
Those who quickly chase after other gods multiply their sorrows. I will not pour out their sacrificial offerings of blood or use my lips to speak their names. 4 The sorrows of those will increase who run after other gods. I will not pour out their libations of blood or take up their names on my lips.
The LORD is my inheritance and my cup. You are the one who determines my destiny. 5 LORD, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure.
Your boundary lines mark out pleasant places for me. Indeed, my inheritance is something beautiful. 6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.
I will praise the LORD, who advises me. My conscience warns me at night. 7 I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.
I always keep the LORD in front of me. When he is by my side, I cannot be moved. 8 I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
That is why my heart is glad and my soul rejoices. My body rests securely 9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure,
because you do not abandon my soul to the grave or allow your holy one to decay. 10 because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay.
You make the path of life known to me. Complete joy is in your presence. Pleasures are by your side forever. 11 You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
