Good News Translation (GNT) New International Version (NIV)
To you, O Lord, I offer my prayer; 1 To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul;
in you, my God, I trust. Save me from the shame of defeat; don't let my enemies gloat over me! 2 in you I trust, O my God. Do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me.
Defeat does not come to those who trust in you, but to those who are quick to rebel against you. 3 No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame, but they will be put to shame who are treacherous without excuse.
Teach me your ways, O Lord; make them known to me. 4 Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths;
Teach me to live according to your truth, for you are my God, who saves me. I always trust in you. 5 guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.
Remember, O Lord, your kindness and constant love which you have shown from long ago. 6 Remember, O LORD, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old.
Forgive the sins and errors of my youth. In your constant love and goodness, remember me, Lord! 7 Remember not the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you are good, O LORD.
Because the Lord is righteous and good, he teaches sinners the path they should follow. 8 Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
He leads the humble in the right way and teaches them his will. 9 He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.
With faithfulness and love he leads all who keep his covenant and obey his commands. 10 All the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful for those who keep the demands of his covenant.
Keep your promise, Lord, and forgive my sins, for they are many. 11 For the sake of your name, O LORD, forgive my iniquity, though it is great.
Those who have reverence for the Lord will learn from him the path they should follow. 12 Who, then, is the man that fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the way chosen for him.
They will always be prosperous, and their children will possess the land. 13 He will spend his days in prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land.
The Lord is the friend of those who obey him and he affirms his covenant with them. 14 The LORD confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.
I look to the Lord for help at all times, and he rescues me from danger. 15 My eyes are ever on the LORD, for only he will release my feet from the snare.
Turn to me, Lord, and be merciful to me, because I am lonely and weak. 16 Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted.
Relieve me of my worries and save me from all my troubles. 17 The troubles of my heart have multiplied; free me from my anguish.
Consider my distress and suffering and forgive all my sins. 18 Look upon my affliction and my distress and take away all my sins.
See how many enemies I have; see how much they hate me. 19 See how my enemies have increased and how fiercely they hate me!
Protect me and save me; keep me from defeat. I come to you for safety. 20 Guard my life and rescue me; let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in you.
May my goodness and honesty preserve me, because I trust in you. 21 May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope is in you.
From all their troubles, O God, save your people Israel! 22 Redeem Israel, O God, from all their troubles!
