A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. LORD, how are they multiplied that trouble me? many [are] they that rise up against me. 1 O LORD, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me!
Many [there are] who say of my soul, [There is] no help for him in God. Selah. 2 Many are saying of me, "God will not deliver him." "Selah"
But thou, O LORD, [art] a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of my head. 3 But you are a shield around me, O LORD; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head.
I cried to the LORD with my voice, and he heard me from his holy hill. Selah. 4 To the LORD I cry aloud, and he answers me from his holy hill. "Selah"
I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. 5 I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me.
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set [themselves] against me on all sides. 6 I will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up against me on every side.
Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all my enemies [upon] the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly. 7 Arise, O LORD! Deliver me, O my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked.
Salvation [belongeth] to the LORD: thy blessing [is] upon thy people. Selah. 8 From the LORD comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people. "Selah"
