The Darby Translation (DBY) New International Version (NIV)
Exult, ye righteous, in Jehovah: praise is comely for the upright. 1 Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.
Give thanks unto Jehovah with the harp; sing psalms unto him with the ten-stringed lute. 2 Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.
Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud sound. 3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.
For the word of Jehovah is right, and all his work is in faithfulness. 4 For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.
He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the loving-kindness of Jehovah. 5 The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.
By the word of Jehovah were the heavens made, and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. 6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.
He gathereth the waters of the sea together as a heap; he layeth up the deeps in storehouses. 7 He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses.
Let all the earth fear Jehovah; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. 8 Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere him.
For *he* spoke, and it was [done]; *he* commanded, and it stood fast. 9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.
Jehovah frustrateth the counsel of the nations; he maketh the thoughts of the peoples of none effect. 10 The LORD foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
The counsel of Jehovah standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart from generation to generation. 11 But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is Jehovah, the people that he hath chosen for his inheritance! 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance.
Jehovah looketh from the heavens; he beholdeth all the sons of men: 13 From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind;
From the place of his habitation he looketh forth upon all the inhabitants of the earth; 14 from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth--
He who fashioneth the hearts of them all, who considereth all their works. 15 he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do.
The king is not saved by the multitude of [his] forces; a mighty man is not delivered by much strength. 16 No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength.
The horse is a vain thing for safety; neither doth he deliver by his great power. 17 A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save.
Behold, the eye of Jehovah is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his loving-kindness, 18 But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,
To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. 19 to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.
Our soul waiteth for Jehovah: he is our help and our shield. 20 We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield.
For in him shall our heart rejoice, because we have confided in his holy name. 21 In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.
Let thy loving-kindness, O Jehovah, be upon us, according as we have hoped in thee. 22 May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you.
