New King James Version (NKJV) New International Version (NIV)
Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful. 1 Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.
Praise the Lord with the harp; Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings. 2 Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.
Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy. 3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.
For the word of the Lord is right, And all His work is done in truth. 4 For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.
He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord. 5 The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.
By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. 6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.
He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deep in storehouses. 7 He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses.
Let all the earth fear the Lord; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. 8 Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere him.
For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast. 9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.
The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect. 10 The LORD foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
The counsel of the Lord stands forever, The plans of His heart to all generations. 11 But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance. 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance.
The Lord looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men. 13 From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind;
From the place of His dwelling He looks On all the inhabitants of the earth; 14 from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth--
He fashions their hearts individually; He considers all their works. 15 he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do.
No king is saved by the multitude of an army; A mighty man is not delivered by great strength. 16 No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength.
A horse is a vain hope for safety; Neither shall it deliver any by its great strength. 17 A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save.
Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, On those who hope in His mercy, 18 But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,
To deliver their soul from death, And to keep them alive in famine. 19 to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.
Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. 20 We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield.
For our heart shall rejoice in Him, Because we have trusted in His holy name. 21 In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.
Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us, Just as we hope in You. 22 May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you.
