The Darby Translation (DBY) New International Version (NIV)
{[A Psalm] of David.} Fret not thyself because of evil-doers, and be not envious of them that work unrighteousness; 1 Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong;
for they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and fade as the green herb. 2 for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.
Confide in Jehovah, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on faithfulness; 3 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
and delight thyself in Jehovah, and he will give thee the desires of thy heart. 4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit thy way unto Jehovah, and rely upon him: he will bring [it] to pass; 5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:
and he will bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. 6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
Rest in Jehovah, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him that prospereth in his way, because of the man that bringeth mischievous devices to pass. 7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; fret not thyself: it [would be] only to do evil. 8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret--it leads only to evil.
For evil-doers shall be cut off; but those that wait on Jehovah, they shall possess the land. 9 For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.
For yet a little while, and the wicked is not; and thou considerest his place, but he is not. 10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found.
But the meek shall possess the land, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of prosperity. 11 But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace.
The wicked plotteth against the righteous, and gnasheth his teeth against him. 12 The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them;
The Lord laugheth at him; for he seeth that his day is coming. 13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming.
The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the afflicted and needy, to slay those that are upright in [the] way: 14 The wicked draw the sword and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright.
their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken. 15 But their swords will pierce their own hearts, and their bows will be broken.
The little that the righteous hath is better than the abundance of many wicked; 16 Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked;
for the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but Jehovah upholdeth the righteous. 17 for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.
Jehovah knoweth the days of the perfect; and their inheritance shall be for ever: 18 The days of the blameless are known to the LORD, and their inheritance will endure forever.
they shall not be ashamed in the time of evil, and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. 19 In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.
For the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of Jehovah shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume, like smoke shall they consume away. 20 But the wicked will perish: The LORD's enemies will be like the beauty of the fields, they will vanish--vanish like smoke.
The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again; but the righteous is gracious and giveth: 21 The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously;
for those blessed of him shall possess the land, and they that are cursed of him shall be cut off. 22 those the LORD blesses will inherit the land, but those he curses will be cut off.
The steps of a man are established by Jehovah, and he delighteth in his way: 23 If the LORD delights in a man's way, he makes his steps firm;
though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down, for Jehovah upholdeth his hand. 24 though he stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.
I have been young, and now am old, and I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed seeking bread: 25 I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.
all the day he is gracious and lendeth, and his seed shall be a blessing. 26 They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be blessed.
Depart from evil, and do good, and dwell for evermore; 27 Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever.
for Jehovah loveth judgment, and will not forsake his saints: They are preserved for ever; but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. 28 For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. They will be protected forever, but the offspring of the wicked will be cut off;
The righteous shall possess the land, and dwell therein for ever. 29 the righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever.
The mouth of the righteous proffereth wisdom, and his tongue speaketh judgment; 30 The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks what is just.
the law of his God is in his heart; his goings shall not slide. 31 The law of his God is in his heart; his feet do not slip.
The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him: 32 The wicked lie in wait for the righteous, seeking their very lives;
Jehovah will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged. 33 but the LORD will not leave them in their power or let them be condemned when brought to trial.
Wait for Jehovah, and keep his way, and he will exalt thee to possess the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see [it]. 34 Wait for the LORD and keep his way. He will exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, you will see it.
I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading like a green tree in its native soil: 35 I have seen a wicked and ruthless man flourishing like a green tree in its native soil,
but he passed away, and behold, he was not; and I sought him, but he was not found. 36 but he soon passed away and was no more; though I looked for him, he could not be found.
Mark the perfect, and behold the upright, for the end of [that] man is peace; 37 Consider the blameless, observe the upright; there is a future for the man of peace.
but the transgressors shall be destroyed together; the future of the wicked shall be cut off. 38 But all sinners will be destroyed; the future of the wicked will be cut off.
But the salvation of the righteous is of Jehovah: he is their strength in the time of trouble. 39 The salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD; he is their stronghold in time of trouble.
And Jehovah will help them and deliver them: he will deliver them from the wicked, and save them; for they trust in him. 40 The LORD helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him.
