Don't be upset because of evil people. Don't be jealous of those who do wrong, 1 Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong;
because like the grass, they will soon dry up. Like green plants, they will soon die away. 2 for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.
Trust the Lord and do good. Live in the land and feed on truth. 3 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Enjoy serving the Lord, and he will give you what you want. 4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Depend on the Lord; trust him, and he will take care of you. 5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:
Then your goodness will shine like the sun, and your fairness like the noonday sun. 6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
Wait and trust the Lord. Don't be upset when others get rich or when someone else's plans succeed. 7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
Don't get angry. Don't be upset; it only leads to trouble. 8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret--it leads only to evil.
Evil people will be sent away, but those who trust the Lord will inherit the land. 9 For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.
In a little while the wicked will be no more. You may look for them, but they will be gone. 10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found.
People who are not proud will inherit the land and will enjoy complete peace. 11 But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace.
The wicked make evil plans against good people. They grind their teeth at them in anger. 12 The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them;
But the Lord laughs at the wicked, because he sees that their day is coming. 13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming.
The wicked draw their swords and bend their bows to kill the poor and helpless, to kill those who are honest. 14 The wicked draw the sword and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright.
But their swords will stab their own hearts, and their bows will break. 15 But their swords will pierce their own hearts, and their bows will be broken.
It is better to have little and be right than to have much and be wrong. 16 Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked;
The power of the wicked will be broken, but the Lord supports those who do right. 17 for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.
The Lord watches over the lives of the innocent, and their reward will last forever. 18 The days of the blameless are known to the LORD, and their inheritance will endure forever.
They will not be ashamed when trouble comes. They will be full in times of hunger. 19 In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.
But the wicked will die. flowers of the fields; they will disappear like smoke. 20 But the wicked will perish: The LORD's enemies will be like the beauty of the fields, they will vanish--vanish like smoke.
The wicked borrow and don't pay back, but those who do right give freely to others. 21 The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously;
Those whom the Lord blesses will inherit the land, but those he curses will be sent away. 22 those the LORD blesses will inherit the land, but those he curses will be cut off.
When a person's steps follow the Lord, God is pleased with his ways. 23 If the LORD delights in a man's way, he makes his steps firm;
If he stumbles, he will not fall, because the Lord holds his hand. 24 though he stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.
I was young, and now I am old, but I have never seen good people left helpless or their children begging for food. 25 I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.
Good people always lend freely to others, and their children are a blessing. 26 They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be blessed.
Stop doing evil and do good, so you will live forever. 27 Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever.
The Lord loves justice and will not leave those who worship him. He will always protect them, but the children of the wicked will die. 28 For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. They will be protected forever, but the offspring of the wicked will be cut off;
Good people will inherit the land and will live in it forever. 29 the righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever.
A good person speaks with wisdom, and he says what is fair. 30 The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks what is just.
The teachings of his God are in his heart, so he does not fail to keep them. 31 The law of his God is in his heart; his feet do not slip.
The wicked watch for good people so that they may kill them. 32 The wicked lie in wait for the righteous, seeking their very lives;
But the Lord will not take away his protection or let good people be judged guilty. 33 but the LORD will not leave them in their power or let them be condemned when brought to trial.
Wait for the Lord's help and follow him. He will honor you and give you the land, and you will see the wicked sent away. 34 Wait for the LORD and keep his way. He will exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, you will see it.
I saw a wicked and cruel man who looked strong like a healthy tree in good soil. 35 I have seen a wicked and ruthless man flourishing like a green tree in its native soil,
But he died and was gone; I looked for him, but he couldn't be found. 36 but he soon passed away and was no more; though I looked for him, he could not be found.
Think of the innocent person, and watch the honest one. The man who has peace will have children to live after him. 37 Consider the blameless, observe the upright; there is a future for the man of peace.
But sinners will be destroyed; in the end the wicked will die. 38 But all sinners will be destroyed; the future of the wicked will be cut off.
The Lord saves good people; he is their strength in times of trouble. 39 The salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD; he is their stronghold in time of trouble.
The Lord helps them and saves them; he saves them from the wicked, because they trust in him for protection. A psalm of David to remember. 40 The LORD helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him.
