New King James Version (NKJV) New International Version (NIV)
To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. A psalm of David. Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer. 1 Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer.
How long, O you sons of men, Will you turn my glory to shame? How long will you love worthlessness And seek falsehood? Selah 2 How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame ? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods ? "Selah"
But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly; The Lord will hear when I call to Him. 3 Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD will hear when I call to him.
Be angry, and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. Selah 4 In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. "Selah"
Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And put your trust in the Lord. 5 Offer right sacrifices and trust in the LORD.
There are many who say, "Who will show us any good?" Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us. 6 Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?" Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD.
You have put gladness in my heart, More than in the season that their grain and wine increased. 7 You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound.
I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. 8 I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
