American Standard Version (ASV) New International Version (NIV)
Give ear to my words, O Jehovah, Consider my meditation. 1 Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my sighing.
Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God; For unto thee do I pray. 2 Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.
O Jehovah, in the morning shalt thou hear my voice; In the morning will I order [my prayer] unto thee, and will keep watch. 3 In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.
For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: Evil shall not sojourn with thee. 4 You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell.
The arrogant shall not stand in thy sight: Thou hatest all workers of iniquity. 5 The arrogant cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong.
Thou wilt destroy them that speak lies: Jehovah abhorreth the blood-thirsty and deceitful man. 6 You destroy those who tell lies; bloodthirsty and deceitful men the LORD abhors.
But as for me, in the abundance of thy lovingkindness will I come into thy house: In thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple. 7 But I, by your great mercy, will come into your house; in reverence will I bow down toward your holy temple.
Lead me, O Jehovah, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; Make thy way straight before my face. 8 Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies-- make straight your way before me.
For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; Their inward part is very wickedness; Their throat is an open sepulchre; They flatter with their tongue. 9 Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with destruction. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongue they speak deceit.
Hold them guilty, O God; Let them fall by their own counsels; Thrust them out in the multitude of their transgressions; For they have rebelled against thee. 10 Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.
But let all those that take refuge in thee rejoice, Let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: Let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. 11 But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
For thou wilt bless the righteous; O Jehovah, thou wilt compass him with favor as with a shield. 12 For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
