O God, you have rejected us, broken our defenses; you have been angry; now restore us! 1 You have rejected us, O God, and burst forth upon us; you have been angry--now restore us!
You have caused the land to quake; you have torn it open; repair the cracks in it, for it is tottering. 2 You have shaken the land and torn it open; mend its fractures, for it is quaking.
You have made your people suffer hard things; you have given us wine to drink that made us reel. 3 You have shown your people desperate times; you have given us wine that makes us stagger.
You have set up a banner for those who fear you, to rally to it out of bowshot. (Selah) 4 But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner to be unfurled against the bow. "Selah"
Give victory with your right hand, and answer us, so that those whom you love may be rescued. 5 Save us and help us with your right hand, that those you love may be delivered.
God has promised in his sanctuary: "With exultation I will divide up Shechem, and portion out the Vale of Succoth. 6 God has spoken from his sanctuary: "In triumph I will parcel out Shechem and measure off the Valley of Succoth.
Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet; Judah is my scepter. 7 Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet, Judah my scepter.
Moab is my washbasin; on Edom I hurl my shoe; over Philistia I shout in triumph." 8 Moab is my washbasin, upon Edom I toss my sandal; over Philistia I shout in triumph."
Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? 9 Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?
Have you not rejected us, O God? You do not go out, O God, with our armies. 10 Is it not you, O God, you who have rejected us and no longer go out with our armies?
O grant us help against the foe, for human help is worthless. 11 Give us aid against the enemy, for the help of man is worthless.
With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes. 12 With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.
