The Message (MSG) New International Version (NIV)
Silence is praise to you, Zion-dwelling God, And also obedience. 1 Praise awaits you, O God, in Zion; to you our vows will be fulfilled.
You hear the prayer in it all. We all arrive at your doorstep sooner or later, loaded with guilt, 2 O you who hear prayer, to you all men will come.
Our sins too much for us - but you get rid of them once and for all. 3 When we were overwhelmed by sins, you forgave our transgressions.
Blessed are the chosen! Blessed the guest at home in your place! We expect our fill of good things in your house, your heavenly manse. 4 Blessed are those you choose and bring near to live in your courts! We are filled with the good things of your house, of your holy temple.
All your salvation wonders are on display in your trophy room. Earth-Tamer, Ocean-Pourer, 5 You answer us with awesome deeds of righteousness, O God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas,
Mountain-Maker, Hill-Dresser, 6 who formed the mountains by your power, having armed yourself with strength,
Muzzler of sea storm and wave crash, of mobs in noisy riot - 7 who stilled the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the turmoil of the nations.
Far and wide they'll come to a stop, they'll stare in awe, in wonder. Dawn and dusk take turns calling, "Come and worship." 8 Those living far away fear your wonders; where morning dawns and evening fades you call forth songs of joy.
Oh, visit the earth, ask her to join the dance! Deck her out in spring showers, fill the God-River with living water. Paint the wheat fields golden. Creation was made for this! 9 You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so you have ordained it.
Drench the plowed fields, soak the dirt clods With rainfall as harrow and rake bring her to blossom and fruit. 10 You drench its furrows and level its ridges; you soften it with showers and bless its crops.
Snow-crown the peaks with splendor, scatter rose petals down your paths, 11 You crown the year with your bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance.
All through the wild meadows, rose petals. Set the hills to dancing, 12 The grasslands of the desert overflow; the hills are clothed with gladness.
Dress the canyon walls with live sheep, a drape of flax across the valleys. Let them shout, and shout, and shout! Oh, oh, let them sing! 13 The meadows are covered with flocks and the valleys are mantled with grain; they shout for joy and sing.
